About Mission Dolores
Mission Dolores is the oldest neighborhood in San Francisco, California. It is bordered by Market Street, Central Freeway, 20th Street, and Valencia Street. This neighborhood was named after the Spanish Mission Dolores settlement that was established in 1776 and belongs to the more expansive Mission District area.
Mission Dolores is home to a diverse mix of residents including families with kids, singles, young professionals, and retirees. It is nestled in between two vibrant districts in San Francisco: The Mission District and The Castro. It has an edgy and trendy vibe to it. Mission Dolores is also home to Dolores Park, which is one of the best sunny day attractions in San Francisco. This hip and trendy aura can be attributed to the fact that it has had many influences from the neighboring districts, as well as the diversity of its residents.
Mission Dolores is one of the best places to go to for casual eateries, such as Bi-Rite Creamery, one of the best ice cream parlors in San Francisco. Dolores Park, of course, is one of the city’s best outdoor parks. Head over to Valencia Street to find grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, and bars!
