Explore the Neighborhood
Pacifica sits directly on the coast in northern San Mateo County, just south of the San Francisco city limits. It's a 15-20 minute drive to downtown San Francisco via Highway 1 (the Cabrillo Highway), yet feels worlds away. A coastal community where over half of the land is protected open space, with more than one thousand acres belonging to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area City of Pacifica. Learn more about the area at Visit Pacifica and the City of Pacifica's neighborhood guide.
This home is located in the Sharp Park neighborhood, one of Pacifica’s most pedestrian-friendly and beach-adjacent communities.
Beaches, Pier & Coastal Trails
- Sharp Park Beach: A distinctive stretch of coast known for its rare black sand (colored by the mineral magnetite), with a half-mile promenade atop the sea wall connecting the pier to Mori Point.
- Pacifica Municipal Pier: An L-shaped fishing pier stretching more than 1,000 feet into the Pacific. The pier offers some of the Bay Area's best fishing and crabbing, with salmon and striped bass in summer and Dungeness crabs in winter. No fishing license is needed for pier fishing. Open daily 4 AM–10 PM.
- Mori Point: Part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, just south along the promenade. Trails lead up to a ridge with sweeping coastal views; wildflowers bloom in spring, and humpback whales can be spotted offshore during migration seasons.
- Pacifica Coastal Trail: A wide, mostly flat path paralleling the waterfront, great for walking, jogging, and biking.
- Rockaway Beach: A short drive south, with its own plaza, boardwalk, and concentration of restaurants and small shops.
Dining, Coffee & Shopping
Pacifica’s Palmetto Avenue and Francisco Boulevard serve as the heart of the Sharp Park neighborhood's dining and shopping scene, with bagel shops, cafés, and local restaurants within walking distance of the home. A fuller list is maintained at Visit Pacifica's restaurant directory. A few local favorites:
- Chit Chat Cafe at the Pier: Coffee and snacks right at the entrance to the Pacifica Pier; a second Chit Chat location sits at the north end of Pacifica with ocean views.
- A Grape in the Fog: Pacifica’s neighborhood wine bar, offering boutique wines by the glass, flight, or bottle, plus cheese and charcuterie.
- Sharp Park Restaurant: A longtime local gathering spot at the Sharp Park Golf Course clubhouse, known for breakfast, Sunday brunch, and Friday/Saturday prime rib dinners.
- Moonraker: Second-floor dining at the Lighthouse Hotel with sweeping ocean views, classic seafood, and an oyster bar.
- Puerto 27 Peruvian Kitchen & Pisco Bar: Peruvian classics and a Pisco-focused bar, adjacent to the Pacifica Beach Hotel.
