October was all about homeownership on our SFhotlist blog! To kick off this theme, our first post of the month featured the benefits of homeownership in San Francisco. For example, owning a home is more economical than renting.
You also have much more freedom with your living space — from decorating to owning a dog, you call the shots when you own a home.
However, owning a home can come with rookie mistakes if you don't have prior experience or haven't been properly guided through the process of owning a home in San Francisco. In our post 5 Home Building and Renovating Mistakes to Avoid, we examined the work that's involved with building or renovating a house. Protect your home’s long-term value by avoiding common errors, and build a house that will be both a dependable home and a stable long-term investment.
We also sent a reminder out that the first installment of property taxes is due. Paid in two installments, property taxes are paid in November/December and February/April. That is, the first installment will be due on November 1st, and considered delinquent after December 11th. The second installment for this year will similarly come due in February 2018, and be considered overdue some time in April.
