We were just told about the perfect way to say "Arrivederci!" to the month of May and "Allô! Ça va?" to the month of June. Here's how you can join us...show up for the Mugsy Pop-Up Wine Bar at El Rio on May 31, 2013, sometime between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm - head to the famous back patio (yeah, *that* patio) for the event. This is not your ordinary pop-up wine bar - it would have to be special in order to pass muster with the fine folks at El Rio who hold in high regard their well-deserved title of San Francisco's favorite dive bar. Oh, and there will be food. Mugsy suggests we all "think Salumi and it may come true." We're doing our part with some intense mental focus to make this come true, make sure to do yours.
Here's the deal: Mugsy Pop-up Wine Bar focuses "on women, urban, and people of color winemakers as well as all around enjoyment of wine." Past pop-up events have included Urban Legend Cellars (a friend introduced us to this Oakland gem, which is run by the nicest people), Rock Wall Wines (representing the Island of Alameda), Gratta Wines (shout out to the Bayview!), Ceja Vineyards (hailing from Napa Valley) to name a few. The list is growing.
They've been doing their thing for a little more than a year now but somehow we are just hearing about it now. We think we need to clear the wax out of our ears because clearly keeping our ears to the ground is not working out. Well, as the saying goes, "Better late than never!". Salute!
