Happy fall!
The season starts with mortgage rates at their lowest level in ~2 years, putting some wind in the sails of homebuyers.
Right now we’re hearing a couple of common questions.
First, with rates falling, is it worth waiting for them to go even lower? As one Yale finance professor explains, mortgage rates already dropped significantly in anticipation of the Federal Reserve cutting rates. While the Fed has signaled more cuts going forward, the change in mortgage rates may be gradual, and nothing is guaranteed.
Real estate decisions are deeply personal. You might be happy to wait and see. Or, if you are ready to make a move, taking advantage of the current relatively low rates may be the prudent approach. There is the possibility to refinance later, if rates drop further, but again nothing is set in stone. Another thing to consider is that it often makes more sense to trade up while the market is down.
We're also frequently asked about the new rules around homebuyers and agents. (Here's a quick recap from Danielle.) Recently, some of the hottest pages on our website have been our Sample Buyer/Seller Forms as people search for information. Who knew paperwork could be so thrilling?
