The San Francisco Chapter of the Young Professional Network (sponsored by Realtor Magazine) (YPN) invited me to be a part of last night's Round Table of Top San Francisco Real Estate Agents at the Infinity Towers. And, it was a blast!
In the past, I have conducted trainings for new Zephyr Real Estate agents but this was the first time I participated in something of this scale. (It was a City-Wide event and the panel included some seriously successful, heavy-hitting Realtors.) I guess the 9 years & counting of hard work, long hours, many "cell phone ear" headaches and more than a few sets of new tires on my car has paid off! 🙂
Having attended countless classes, conferences and business development workshops, it was such an honor to be on the other side of the microphone and share my perspective on what it takes to sustain a successful real estate sales business. The format was like "speed-dating." Each "Top Producer" sat at a round table and the participants (San Francisco agents) moved from table to table every 9-10 minutes so we could chat and interact with everyone. Actually, it was very fun (and no, I did not go home with any telephone numbers)!
I have to admit I was a little emotional when I walked in and saw the placard describing me:
The truth is that I care so deeply about my business and have worked so hard to create a real estate practice that truly connects with people & helps our buyer and seller clients to achieve their goals. I still feel like the 24 year old taking real estate classes at night while she assisted a 3rd grade classroom during the day in Daly City. I had no clue what I was getting myself into...I didn't know anyone in real estate. I didn't know anyone who could afford to buy real estate. I just had this sense, this intuition, that I was meant to run my own business and that this business was meant to help others by leading them through the process of achieving their own home ownership dreams.
And it worked. I have been a top San Francisco real estate agent each year. I pulled this off by loving what I do and caring deeply about the people I help. I love being independent, running my own business and helping my clients buy and sell property in the most effective, ethical and enjoyable way possible.
