I blame the end of Daylight Saving Time for my latest snafu. I heard that Chef Eji, of Eji's Ethiopian fame, was hosting her first pop-up dinner "Autumn in Ethiopia" and I completely forgot to buy tickets! I not only missed the opportunity to attend the event but I'm late to write a post about it, too! What's that song again, Don't Be Tardy To The Party? Clearly, I am.
We were so excited here at SFHotlist when Chef Eji set up shop in the 331 Cortland Marketplace in Bernal Heights a little over a year ago. A graduate of amazing food incubator La Cocina, Chef Eji and her Ethiopian dishes were a perfect fit for Bernal Heights.
Our sources told us tonight's pop-up dinner "will be equal parts hands-on cooking class, experience (hearing her tell stories from her childhood and starting up a business in SF!), and a seasonal 3-course Ethiopian meal." Where in San Francisco can you get that kind of experience for $30? Did I mention that the Mission location of The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen at 2400 Harrison is offering their space for the pop-up? Very cool.
We're bummed that we are missing what is sure to be a fantastic evening and a delicious meal. Maybe, just maybe, we can start a campaign on simmr and with the help of you, our awesome readers, Chef Eji will throw another pop-up dinner party very soon (hint hint)? And we promise to not be tardy!
